How to Shave

I can remember learning to shave in my teens, the process always seemed to result in cuts and bleeding. It wasn't long until I bought an electric razor, this only resulted in more issues, in grown hairs, razor rash or poor quality shave. By the time I was 20 I was really getting tired of shaving and it didn't seem to be getting much better.

My hairline was already receding by 20, so growing hair has never been a strong suit of mine. Shaving didn't seem to be going much better and a beard was out of the question. Finally I decided to switch back to the electric razor, I figured maybe I needed to buy a better quality device. I researched and researched. I finally settled on the Braun Series 7 790cc-4 Electric Foil Shaver with Clean and Charge Station well at least the similar version they had 15 years ago. After I got the razor, I pulled it from the package and started shaving.

I have to say I was not impressed. I shave right after I got out of the shower, and the results were less than impressive. It turns out, shaving with an electric razor right after you shower is very poor timing. After a couple days of this, I started searching for a better way. Eventually I realized that shaving before I got in the shower right after I woke up seemed to work the best.

The trick here is you want your face to have a slight natural oil from the nights sleep, but nothing too noticeable. I've tried going for a run and then shaving, this results in cuts to my face and a clumpy mess from shaving. If your face is too clean, the razor doesn't glide over the skin and you don't get a close shave.

I'm telling you the best shave you'll ever get with an electric razor is before you shower or really sweat. You don't have to shave right after you wake up, but that's now my routine. I also typically shower right after I shave, for me this really keeps my skin in good condition and without blemishes.
