One Year In Business
Well, we settled on a name, as you probably already know, Synergy Power. That was my last post, over a year ago, trying to come up with a name. We have quite a rough few months, 2 of the major sales pieces up and left. The worst part about it all, is that they went to another company and lied to my face, saying they were leaving the industry or area. I specifically told both of them, I wouldn't have any problem if they wanted to go elsewhere, but instead of telling me the truth, they lied to me. Next issue, we had multiple clients leave, even after written contracts, personal handshake promises and even one customer letting me drive his brand new model X Tesla. Even worse, I found out the SunPower sales rep snaked all this behind my back and pull both those sales reps over from my company.
All I can say, is wow. It certainly burns me know when I look back and think about those first few months, and the unsavory characters I was surrounded with, but at this point, I can't say I'm surprised. Turns out my past company had many individuals that cared more about themselves than their character or reputation. Once I got through that mess we finally got our S Corp of the ground and a few of our own sales, by yours truly started to roll in. Towards the end of the year, we started to deal with collection issues. Of course these were things we face continually, but they really started to become a major cashflow issue. At this point, I've hired a lawyer, and even thinking about hiring a collection agency. I've had enough of the negative energy.
I always try to treat others how I want to be treated, not how I've been treated. I personally have put those people behind me. I'm sure I'll have to deal with some of it, but the lawyer is paid, so it's his problem now.
Since sales has been a bit low, and we are tired of working with companies that don't pay their own bills, we went out and hired a web company this week. They are going to take my company website from SquareSpace over to WordPress. They are promising a 2 week roll out, and we are really hoping to take it to the next level. I was told by the marketing company that the domain we bought, SynergyPower.com has a 20 year domain authority, and pretty solid because of the age of the domain. That should help us build a successful website, we'll see. We also decided to hire a company to help us get more reviews. It's been tough to get people to leave reviews, even though they tell us we've done awesome.
Overall, the company has no debt, we are making a slight profit and stress levels are moderate. I'm really working to add leads and a few sales people. I really need a few people that can focus 100% on sales, and don't have to manage the whole business, plus sale, like myself.
Plus, I hit 209.2 on the scale last week. I jumped back on MyFitnessPal and the bike, already down to 204. I just haven't had the time, energy or desire to stop eating. It's a long road, and almost all the fitness I had just 3 years ago is gone. Having Redwood Rd closed, hasn't helped, it feels like it's part of my soul that's been closed off. I know it will reopen, I know I'll get back to that fitness and joy, just going to start logging...
